Kylian Mbappe has asserted that he remains undecided about his future club, despite the persistent rumors linking him to Real Madrid. Notably, Mbappe showcased his skills by scoring in PSG’s triumph in the French Super Cup final on January 3rd.
Mbappe’s contract with PSG is set to expire in the next six months, and he had previously announced during the summer that he would not be renewing his contract with the club. Despite rumors linking him to Real Madrid, Mbappe has stated that he has not yet made a decision about his future. As his current contract nears its end, he is now able to engage in negotiations with other clubs. This announcement from the French captain resulted in him being excluded from the team’s pre-season tour.
Mbappe made a compromise and decided to stay in Paris for the season, contributing to their victory in the French Super Cup by scoring a goal in the 44th minute of the 2-0 triumph. Real Madrid remains a formidable contender for the 25-year-old’s signature, having come close in 2022.
Mbappe, speaking to the reporters as cited by Reuters, stated that he has not yet made a decision regarding his future in terms of his club career. The French captain emphasized that his choice holds no significance for the club due to his agreement with chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
“After PSG’s 2-0 victory over Toulouse in the French Super Cup final on Wednesday, I am extremely motivated for this year. It holds immense importance,” Mbappe expressed to the reporters.
“As I mentioned earlier, we have titles to pursue and we have already achieved one, so that is already accomplished. However, I have not yet reached a conclusion.
“Nevertheless, regardless of my decision, it is inconsequential due to the agreement I reached with the chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, this summer.”
“We have successfully safeguarded the interests of all parties involved and maintained the club’s tranquility for the upcoming challenges, which remains the utmost priority. Therefore, we can consider it as a secondary matter.”
Mbappe has made it clear that he will not delay his decision on his future until May. In 2022, the talented French player chose to extend his contract with PSG only a few weeks before the transfer window opened.
“I believe it was towards the end of May in 2022 because I wasn’t certain until then,” he stated. “If I am certain about what I want to do, there is no reason to prolong the process. It simply doesn’t make sense,” Mbappe explained.
