Manipur airport is on high alert following the detection of an unidentified flying object.

Authorities at Manipur airport responded promptly to a reported UFO sighting, taking necessary precautions to prioritize the safety and security of the airspace and airport facilities.

Flight services at Imphal International Airport in Manipur experienced disruptions on Sunday afternoon due to the sighting of an unidentified flying object (UFO). As a result, two flights were diverted, and three others faced delays. Normal operations at the airport resumed after approximately three hours.

According to Airport Director Chipemmi Keishing, the disruptions in flight services at Imphal International Airport were a result of the sighting of an unidentified flying object (UFO). As a precautionary measure, two flights were diverted, and three departing flights faced delays. After obtaining clearance from the competent authority, flight operations were able to resume.

The Air Traffic Control (ATC) was notified by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at 2:30 pm about the presence of a UFO near the airport. According to an ATC official, the UFO was visible without any special equipment and was observed moving towards the west of the airfield until approximately 4 pm.

An IndiGo flight from Kolkata was among the affected flights at Imphal airport. Initially, the flight was instructed to “hold overhead” before being diverted to Guwahati after a delay of 25 minutes. However, after receiving clearance, the delayed flights were able to depart from Imphal airport, bringing an end to the disruption.

The sighting of the unidentified flying object (UFO) at Imphal airport prompted authorities to inform the Indian Air Force Eastern Command in Shillong, indicating the seriousness with which the incident was taken. Given Manipur’s geographical location and its borders with neighboring states and Myanmar, there is a need for heightened vigilance in the region’s airspace. The incident has sparked discussions regarding the potential enhancement of monitoring and preparedness to handle similar occurrences in the future.
