Mauricio Pochettino, the head coach of Chelsea, expressed his strong desire to secure a championship with the club following their qualification for the 2023/24 Carabao Cup final.

In the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, Chelsea triumphed over Middlesbrough with an impressive 6-1 victory at Stamford Bridge. This remarkable result allowed them to overcome a 0-1 deficit from the first leg, ultimately winning the tie with a 6-2 aggregate score.

This marks Chelsea’s third appearance in the Carabao Cup final within a span of six years. Unfortunately, their previous final ended in defeat against Liverpool, as they were unable to secure victory in a penalty shootout.

In his conversation with reporters after the game, as reported by Reuters, Pochettino expressed his strong desire to secure a championship with Chelsea. He emphasized that the team’s focus will now shift towards the upcoming final. The final of the Carabao Cup is scheduled to take place at the renowned Wembley Stadium on February 25.

Pochettino stated, “I am extremely eager to win a title here. During my time in Paris, we managed to clinch three trophies within a year and a half, and now we aspire to achieve the same here. Our objective from the beginning was to construct a team from scratch, without the presence of Champions League, Europa League, or Conference League. We have accomplished that, and now our main aim is to triumph in the final.”

The victory for the Blues in London was secured through goals from Enzo Fernandez, Axel Disasi, and Cole Palmer in the first half, followed by strikes from Palmer and Noni Madueke after the break.

In the final of the competition, Chelsea will face either Liverpool or their local rivals, Fulham.

Up next, Chelsea will go head-to-head with the high-flying Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Saturday, January 27, before their Premier League encounter against Liverpool on February 1.

Despite Chelsea’s successful journey to the final of the Carabao Cup, their performance in the Premier League has been less than satisfactory. Currently, Pochettino’s team is positioned ninth in the league standings, having accumulated only 31 points from their first 21 matches.
