Michael Gambon, best known for playing Dumbledore in Harry Potter films, dies at 82

Sir Michael Gambon, best known for playing the character of Professor Albus Dumbledore in the “Harry Potter” films, has died. He was 82.

A statement on behalf of his wife Lady Gambon and son Fergus, issued by publicist Claire Dobbs said, “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon.”

“Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82. We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.”

Tributes poured in for the Irish actor as news of his death shocked and saddened his fans all over the world. Social media users mourned his passing on X (formerly Twitter) and called him a great actor. Some people even shared his famous quotes from the “Harry Potter” franchise.
