A bill to defend Armenians from Azerbaijani military aggression has been filed by a bipartisan coalition of US senators, including Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez.
In response to the government of Azerbaijan’s activities, the law offers humanitarian aid to the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians, forbids the delivery of additional security support to that country, and calls for more accountability for atrocities committed against Armenis.
The measure specifically repeals the exemption from Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act, which forbids the majority of US assistance to the government of Azerbaijan.
