Tesla, led by Elon Musk, has recently introduced the Optimus Gen 2 robot, showcasing its remarkable capabilities such as egg boiling, performing squats, and numerous other functionalities.

In brief, Tesla’s Optimus Gen 2 robot, unveiled by Elon Musk, boasts a sleek design and is capable of performing a wide range of tasks. The idea of humanoid robots coexisting with humans has been a popular theme in fiction, with numerous movies exploring this concept and captivating audiences of all ages for many years. Elon Musk’s latest creation, the Optimus Gen 2, brings us closer to realizing this concept as it not only walks and talks but also possesses enhanced features such as increased walking speed, improved hand movements, tactile sensing on its fingers, and much more.

Elon Musk reveals the second generation of Optimus.

Musk shares a demonstration video of the robot on X, accompanied by a simple caption, “Optimus.”

The demonstration video commences by showcasing the earlier iterations of humanoid robots, which were introduced in 2021 and 2022. However, the latest humanoid robot is significantly more sophisticated, capable of performing exercises, boiling eggs, and even dancing. With its sleek design, the robot closely resembles a human being.

Regarding the previous generations of Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot, also known as Tesla Bot, is currently in development. It was initially introduced at the company’s AI Day event in 2021 and is designed to be a versatile robot capable of performing various tasks, particularly those that are monotonous, hazardous, or uninteresting for humans.

Tesla has been providing updates on Optimus’ progress, with the latest being the Gen 2 version. In 2022, Tesla unveiled a prototype that could walk and perform simple tasks such as object manipulation. During the demonstration, Tesla CEO Elon Musk emphasized that it was the first time the robot operated without a tether, showcasing its capabilities in picking up objects and watering plants.

During the initial unveiling in 2021, Tesla highlighted that Optimus is powered by a custom Tesla computer chip, enabling it to handle complex tasks. Similar to a smartphone, it remains connected through WiFi and LTE, allowing for remote updates and control. The robot also possesses audio capabilities for clear communication and built-in cybersecurity features to ensure secure operations.

Optimus is equipped with a 2.3 kilowatt-hour battery, which offers greater efficiency compared to traditional robots. This enables extended operation without frequent recharging.

In March of this year, Optimus Gen 1 was introduced, followed by the sharing of additional details about the robot in September. Notably, the TeslaBot operates on an end-to-end neural network, the same technology utilized in Tesla’s electric cars. A demonstration video showcased the TeslaBot engaging in yoga, capturing attention and highlighting its capabilities.
