Nottingham Forest has recently appointed Nuno Espirito Santo, the former manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, as their new boss. This decision comes as the club aims to distance themselves from the relegation zone. On December 19, Forest decided to part ways with their previous manager, Steve Cooper, after a series of disappointing results. The team has only managed to secure one point in their last six matches and has not won a game since November.

The club’s recent string of poor performances has brought them perilously close to the relegation zone, currently occupying the 17th position in the points table.

Subsequently, Forest would shift their focus towards Santo, who has experienced tremendous success with Wolves in the Premier League.

Santo embarked on his managerial career at Rio Ave in 2012, where he experienced remarkable success. Under his guidance, the team reached two domestic finals and secured their first-ever Europa League qualification.

Subsequently, Santo took on a significant role at Wolverhampton Wanderers from 2017 to 2021. During this period, he led the club from the Championship to the Premier League and even steered them to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Following a brief stint at Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, Nuno went on to manage Al-Ittihad, a club in the Saudi Pro League. However, his managerial journey took a new turn when he was appointed as the manager of Nottingham Forest on December 20.

The official announcement on Forest’s website confirmed Santo’s appointment, stating that he had signed a two-and-a-half-year contract. He would assume his managerial duties for the team’s upcoming match against Bournemouth.

“Nottingham Forest is pleased to announce the appointment of Nuno Esprito Santo as the head coach of the first team.”

“Nuno has joined the club on a two-and-a-half-year contract and will oversee his inaugural match on Saturday, when Forest faces Bournemouth at The City Ground.”

The statement further mentioned, “The new head coach will conduct his first training session with the squad this morning as they prepare for Saturday’s Premier League fixture, where The Reds will host Bournemouth at The City Ground (15:00 kick-off).”
