Game recap-The Cowboys emerged victorious with a score of 33, while the Eagles fell short with a score of 13.
The Eagles suffered their second consecutive loss, this time on the road against the Dallas Cowboys, with a final score of 33-13. Philadelphia struggled with turnovers, giving the ball away three times, allowing Dallas to take a commanding 24-6 lead by halftime. However, there was a glimmer of hope for the Eagles when rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter returned a fumble by Dak Prescott for a touchdown in the third quarter. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to turn the tide in their favor.

As a result of this loss, both Philadelphia and Dallas now have identical 10-3 records and are tied for the top spot in the NFC East. Adding to the mix, the San Francisco 49ers also have a 10-3 record, creating a three-way tie for the conference’s top seed and the coveted first-round bye in the playoffs.

Looking ahead, the Eagles will hit the road once again next week to face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. The Seahawks currently have a 6-7 record and are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff picture, having lost to the 49ers on Sunday.

Now, let’s take a closer look at how the game unfolded.

First Quarter:

The Cowboys wasted no time and scored a 13-yard touchdown on their opening drive. Dak Prescott connected with CeeDee Lamb for an easy score on a third-and-2 play. Initially, there was a flag thrown by the referees, but it was ultimately ruled that there was no offensive holding on the play. (Cowboys 7 – Eagles 0)

As the Eagles were driving and approaching the red zone, Jalen Hurts fumbled the ball on a quarterback draw play. Donovan Wilson of the Cowboys forced the fumble and recovered it. This marked Hurts’ fourth lost fumble of the season.

Brandon Aubrey, the rookie kicker for the Cowboys, continued to impress with a flawless 60-yard field goal, extending Dallas’ lead to two scores. Aubrey remains perfect on field goal attempts in his short NFL career. (Cowboys 10 – Eagles 0)

Second Quarter:

In a surprising move, the Cowboys executed a fake punt on fourth-and-2. Braden Mann, the punter, took the snap and completed a pass to Olamide Zaccheaus for a gain of 28 yards.

Jake Elliott successfully kicked a 52-yard field goal, placing it just inside the right post, earning the Philadelphia Eagles their first points of the game. The decision to execute a fake punt paid off for the Eagles. At this point, the score was Cowboys 10 – Eagles 3.

The Cowboys’ offense continued to dominate as Rico Dowdle managed to barely cross the goal line for a 1-yard touchdown. Initially, Dowdle was ruled short, but after a review, it was determined to be a touchdown. The score now stood at Cowboys 17 – Eagles 3.

Once again, Jake Elliott delivered with a 44-yard field goal, sneaking it just inside the right post. The Eagles faced setbacks due to a Micah Parsons sack on second down. The score was Cowboys 17 – Eagles 6.

The Cowboys further extended their lead with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Michael Gallup. Despite a flag being thrown by the referees, it was ruled that there was no offensive pass interference on the play. Kelee Ringo’s two costly penalties on the same play gave the Cowboys excellent field position, allowing them to swiftly advance down the field. The score now stood at Cowboys 24 – Eagles 6.

Moving into the third quarter, safety Reed Blankenship was ruled out with a concussion after leaving the game in the second quarter.

Desperate for points at the start of the second half, A.J. Brown fumbled on the opening drive. Stephon Gilmore managed to knock the ball out just before Brown’s knee touched the ground. Damone Clark recovered the loose ball, but the Eagles forced a three-and-out.

Finally, the Eagles managed to score a touchdown when Fletcher Cox knocked the ball out of quarterback Dak Prescott’s hands, and Jalen Carter was there to scoop it up and score. This 42-yard fumble return marked Carter’s first career touchdown and briefly brought the Eagles back into the game. The score now stood at Cowboys 24 – Eagles 13.

The automatic Aubrey successfully converted another field goal, this time from a distance of 59 yards. Due to two penalties on the Cowboys, they were pushed to the edge of field goal range. As a result, the Cowboys led with a score of 27-13 against the Eagles.

However, the Eagles were unable to convert on fourth-and-8 from the Dallas 29-yard line. Despite facing a blitz, quarterback Jalen Hurts passed the ball to DeVonta Smith, but he was only able to gain 1 yard after being tackled by Gilmore. Earlier in the drive, Smith had a chance at a touchdown, but he couldn’t maintain possession of the ball.

In the fourth quarter, Aubrey successfully kicked another field goal from 45 yards, extending the hosts’ lead to three scores. The score now stood at Cowboys 30 – Eagles 13.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, they fumbled the football for the third time in the game, with DeVonta Smith being the culprit this time. After making a significant gain up the middle, Markquese Bell forced the fumble and Malik Hooker recovered it.

Aubrey’s field goal success rate remained perfect, as he made his 30th consecutive field goal in his NFL career. His fourth successful kick of the night came from 50 yards, marking the final points of the game. The Cowboys now led with a score of 33-13 against the Eagles.

Moving on to the game leaders, Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Eagles, completed 18 out of 27 passes for a total of 197 yards. On the other hand, Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Cowboys, completed 24 out of 29 passes for 271 yards and 2 touchdowns.
