Actor Kangana Ranaut is set to make history as she becomes the first woman to perform the Ravan Dahan at the Lav Kush Ramleela in Delhi on Dussehra. The event, which has been held annually at the Red Fort for 50 years, will witness Kangana igniting the effigy of the demon king by shooting an arrow. Arjun Singh, the president of the Lav Kush Ramleela Committee of Delhi, confirmed this significant development.

Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram on Monday to share a video where she discussed the upcoming event and her upcoming film Tejas. Along with the video, she captioned the post, “In the 50 years of history of the event, held annually at the Red Fort, this will be the first time a woman will set the effigy of Ravana on fire. Jai Shri Ram.”

Arjun Singh, the president of the Lav Kush Ramleela Committee of Delhi, explained that the decision to have Kangana Ranaut perform the Ravan Dahan was made by the committee as a reflection of the Women’s Reservation Bill recently passed by Parliament. He further mentioned that the event has previously been graced by various prominent figures, such as former President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as popular film stars like Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, and Prabhas. This year, in a historic move for the event, a woman will be performing the Ravan Dahan for the first time in its 50-year history.

Arjun Singh, the president of the Lav Kush Ramleela Committee, expressed the committee’s support for equal rights for women. He acknowledged the increasing participation of women in various fields but also recognized the need for continued progress. Arjun stated that the Women’s Reservation Bill would contribute to the development of both the country and society. He emphasized the importance of overcoming narrow-mindedness to promote equality.

The Women Reservation Bill aims to ensure 33% representation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies, with Kangana ji chosen to represent this right, and the event will take place on October 24.

Kangana is promoting her upcoming film, Tejas, directed by Sarvesh Mewara, which stars her as an Indian Air Force pilot.
