Philadelphia police officer Mark Dial has surrendered to authorities on multiple charges, including murder, in connection with the shooting of Eddie Irizarry Jr. The incident, which took place while Irizarry was inside his car, was captured on footage that shows Dial approaching the vehicle with his gun drawn and firing six shots at close range.

The second officer present at the scene has not been charged, and their name has not been released. A preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place on Friday to further investigate the case.

Mark Dial’s attorney, Brian McMonagle, has expressed his disagreement with the murder charges, claiming that the undisputed facts of the case indicate that Irizarry made an illegal turn, attempted to flee at high speed, and evaded officers.

The Fraternal Order of Police, the union representing Philadelphia police officers, has voiced its support for Mark Dial in light of these charges.
