You may have seen, heard, and read about the phenomenon of falling stars in the sky. But what if hundreds of stars started breaking and falling together? Scientists have made a claim that is just as astonishing. Dr. Veerendra Yadav, a scientist at the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) in Nainital, Uttarakhand, has claimed that there will be a shower of stars on the 13th and 14th of this month on a large scale. Every hour, 100 to 150 stars will break in the sky.

According to Dr. Veerendra Yadav from the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) in Nainital, this astronomical event is called ‘Gemini Meteor Shower’. Dr. Yadav explains that the process started in November and will continue until December 24th.

No connection with stars

This astronomical event is also known as the ‘Falling Stars’. However, there is no direct connection of this event with actual stars.

According to the scientist Dr. Yadav, the name of a meteor is usually based on the name of the constellation or star from which it originates in the galaxy. Based on this, the name of the Gemini meteor shower is derived from the name of the Gemini constellation. Therefore, it is named Gemini meteor shower.
